Public–Private Partnerships in Healthcare

Current evidence points to the mixed performance of public–private partnerships in India and globally. A detailed study of the formulation and performance of specifi c PPPs in the healthcare sector in Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Delhi reveals that PPPs faced challenges similar to the government health system. Though they fi lled a gap in some cases, their long-term implications and sustainability need more serious assessment.

Misconceived Measures for Malnutrition

The recent Government of India recommendation for monthly length/height measurements by anganwadi workers promises to be a disaster in its current form and might lead to a severe derailing of the existing system of data collection and management, leading to further chaos and misreporting on malnutrition.

Contrived Confusions

Ethical dilemmas surrounding abortion, particularly the conflict between human and legal rights of a childbearing woman and the so-called rights of an unborn child, are quite legitimate. However, the pro-life activists should desist from treating a woman as mere receptacle for the unborn child, taking away her inalienable right to control her own body.
