Slack Demand THE flagship company of the Lloyds group, Lloyds Steel lured poorly in 1997-98. While net sales increased by a mere 2.9 per cent over the previous year the companys' operating profit declined drastically by 45,7 per cent. Despite a 11.8 per cent fall in interest charges and a 20.1 percent lower depreciation provision, the company suffered a loss of Rs 38.4 crore during the year under review.
