2004-05 in Retrospect: Good Performance

Good Performance The revised statistics on output and the provisional data on balance of payments during 2004-05, released earlier this week by the Central Statistical Organisation and the Reserve Bank of India, respectively, confirm that the last fiscal was a reasonably good year for the economy from a macro perspective. The question now is if the 2004-05 growth performance can be sustained in 2005-06, if there can be more uniform sectoral growth and if the distributions of benefits can be made more widespread.
