We, the undersigned would like to draw your attention to the grave situation that is prevailing at the Gandhian Institute of Studies (GIS), Varanasi.
The GIS was founded in 1960 by the late Jayaprakash Narayan to link the Gandhian movement with the social sciences. It became a registered body in 1962 and has done pioneering work in the social sciences. The institute had among its founders and associates, Jayaprakash Narayan, Sampurnananda, Naba Krishna Choudhury and a host of luminaries from the freedom struggle.
