Travelling has always been associated literally, and metaphorically, with mobility and progress. Recently, Dayabai, a social activist who has been working for the upliftment of Dalits, Adivasis and women for decades in Kerala, faced humiliation in a state transport corporation bus. The conductor of the bus she had boarded from Thrissur asked her to alight after showering abuses on her. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case.
