Political Sanders, Minus the Edge
Outsider in the White House by Bernie Sanders with Huck Gutman, Three Essays Collective, 2016; pp xx+348, Rs 500.
If you are an observer of global political Twitter, few things are more exciting than Bernie Sanders’ timeline. Alas, the same cannot quite be said for Sanders’ book Outsider in the White House, an updated version of a political autobiography he initially wrote some two decades ago to chronicle his against-the-odds career as an uncharacteristically independent, socialist politician in America. Published in 2015, the updated edition is obviously meant to complement Sanders’ sensational run as the possible Democrat nominee for the upcoming 2016 Presidential election and the stuff of Hillary Clinton’s nightmares. And therein lies the problem with the book.
