As a student of sociology it was with great pleasure that I read Vivek Kumar’s article “How Egalitarian Is Indian Sociology?” (EPW, 18 June 2016).
He spoke the minds of many like me who are Dalit and students of sociology. This revelation was hidden in the domain of academics, especially in the discipline of sociology. I am presently working on “caste,” and have felt this very strongly. Kumar brought forth the domination of a small group in Indian sociology over the last hundred years.
