Delightful, But...
Thank you very much for the delightful interview with Ashok Mitra you have published (EPW, 20 August 2016). But, there are two serious mistakes in it. Richard Goodwin was not John F Kennedy’s speech-writer, he was a communist. Although he was regarded as one of the best business-cycle theorists of his time, he was not given tenure at Harvard and he moved to Cambridge, England. He supervised my PhD thesis.

Although he was regarded as one of the best business-cycle theorists of his time, he was not given tenure at Harvard and he moved to Cambridge, England. He supervised my PhD thesis. Again, Paul Baran was a Marxist who belonged to the Monthly Review group and had nothing to do with Schumpeter, a great scholar and probably the best anti-Marxist economist of his time. Also, it was probably M N Srinivas, and not M S Srinivasan who was chairman of the Sameeksha Trust in the 1990s.
