A Trader's Journey

The Z Factor: My Journey as the Wrong Man at the Right Time by Subhash Chandra, Pranjal Sharma, New Delhi: HarperCollins, 2016; pp 281, ₹350.

The Zee TV founder Subhash Chandra was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 11 June 2016 when the Election Commission (EC) disqualified 12 votes cast by the Congress members of the legislative assembly. They used violet ink instead of the required royal blue. The EC has officially recommended a first information report (FIR).1 The directive followed a police complaint on 17 June by the losing candidate R K Anand who alleged a sophisticated level of organised cheating.2 Chandra has dismissed the allegations as “frivolous” and “whimsical assumptions without a shred of evidentiary backing.”3
