The ‘Tall’ Guy: A K Mallik (1944–2017)

On 25 May 2017, Arup Kumar Mallik died in his home, just as he had wished. He had lived his entire life according to his own beliefs and ideas, and when he was seriously ill and in hospital, he decided he had had enough, and insisted on returning home. His wife Sarmila and brother Asok, his prime carers, had no other alternative but to arrange for his home stay. He came home, spent hardly two days, enquired about the start of the Champions Trophy, and breathed his last.
