Amit Sengupta (1958–2018)

Amit Sengupta, a leading light of the Delhi Science Forum (DSF), people’s science movement (PSM), and the Indian as well as global people’s health movements (PHMs), passed away on 28 December 2018 in Goa. He had turned 60 earlier this year. He was in Goa on a brief vacation to mark the anniversary of his wedding with his wife, Tripta Narang.

It speaks volumes about his character that after obtaining his MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, Sengupta decided neither to join a hospital nor to start a private practice, because he did not believe in earning money from helping people by putting a price on his knowledge.
