The High Court of Kerala, after protracted legal proceedings, delivered a landmark judgment on 17 March 2022 that mandated the establishment of a grievance redressal cell in the form of an internal complaints committee in all film production units. This ruling came in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) filed in 2018 by the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) with a plea for the setting up of internal complaints committees as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (hereafter the POSH Act).
