Does FDI Induce Technological Advancements in India?

The study used partial least squares-structural equation model and found that foreign direct investment and research and development expenditures have a positive relationship with high technology exports (indicator for technological advancement), whereas technical cooperation grants have a negative relationship with HTE in India.

In September 2015, the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit un­animously adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As per the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and United Nations Inter-Agency Task Team (UN IATT) on Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (2022), this agenda placed STI among the seven important action areas to achieve the SDGs.

Technology consists of a process that applies knowledge (science) to achieve a definite purpose (innovation). This is the reason why out of the three different but strongly related domains involved in STI, technology is the most sought-after among them as it plays a key and mediating role in achieving the SDGs.
